Criminal Practice
Our attorneys have extensive experience in literally hundreds of criminal trials and even greater
numbers of grand jury and other criminal investigations for matters ranging from homicide to the
most complex white-collar or business crimes. Mark Geragos and Nancy Luque are two of the
most nationally-recognized and prominent criminal lawyers in the United States today. Both of
them have frequently appeared and are sought after speakers on national news programs
regarding criminal defense practice.

Including Dan Marino, the firm combines over 75 years of trying criminal cases in state and
federal courts throughout the United States, including many high profile cases. For the past 25
years, there has not been a criminal investigation of national significance in which our firm's
lawyers were not involved, including Iran Contra, Whitewater, the 1996 Election Cycle Task
Force, Operation Greenquest and others.

Our approach to any criminal matter is first to keep it from going criminal in the first place. If an
indictment nevertheless happens, however, we try cases. Our willingness and experience trying
cases are often powerful allies in keeping our clients from being charged at all.

Civil Litigation
Aside from criminal defense, we focus our practice on business litigation, primarily on behalf of
plaintiffs. We emphasize the use of non-traditional or alternative fee arrangements in connection
with this work. We have experience with contract disputes, insurance coverage, business fraud,
trade secrets, accountant and insurance broker negligence, defective technology, employment
and other areas of civil disputes. In a trade secrets case in 2008 we obtained a jury verdict and
judgment on behalf of our client amounting to $58 Million against a major pharmaceutical
company, one of the 10 largest verdicts in California during 2008.
